Note for:   Joseph Cotton,   1746 - 1825          Index
Deputy Master of Trinity House in 1803. He served as a Director of the Ea st India Company between 1795 and 1823. For several years he was also t he Chairman of the East India Dock Company, formed in 1793. In 1818 he pub lished a 'Memoir on the Origin and Incorporation of the Trinity House of D eptford Strond'. Cotton Street in Poplar is named after him.

Robert Paddison was Secretary to the Louth Amicable Soc. from 1795-182 2, in which year he died aged 57. He was also a member of the Louth Anacre ontic Soc. and is mentioned in William Wrangham's 'Reminiscence' 1830

Each to thy memory dropped a tear
For we had known and loved thee well
