In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Marshall of Culpepper County being ag ed infirm and sick of body but perfect in mind and memory have thought pro per to constitute and make this my last will and testament in manner and f orm following renouncing all and every will heretofore made by me.

Viz. I give my soule to my God who gave it hoping that it will remain hap py in the hand of my Savior till ye day of judgment when soul and bo dy be joined together to praise him forever. My desire is that my Body m ay be buried according to ye directions of my executors hereforein named a nd after my just debts with my funeral expenses are paid my desire is th at what it has pleased God to help me with of worldly goods may be giv en as followeth:

I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Elizabeth Marhall daught er of my son Thomas Marshall one negro boy named David.

I give and bequeath to my grandson Lewis Marshall son to my son William Ma rshall one negro girl named Pegg on condition that the first child she bea rs after my decease that lives to be five years old be given to my grands on George Marshall each to be possessed of their respective increa se at ye age of twenty one or at ye day of marriage or if either shall d ie the survivor to possess the whole and my will is that my son William Ma rshall ____ ?? ___ of ye said negroes and increase till my said grandson c omes of age twenty one years old.

Item I give and bequeath to my grandson Thomas Marhall son of my son Jo hn one negro boy named Jerry.

Item I give and bequeath to my Grandson Thomas Smith one negro woman nam ed Betts to him and his heirs forever.

I give and bequeath to my Grandson William Smith one negro boy named Abrah am to him and his heirs forever.

Item I give my daughter Mary McClannahan my Sorrel mare and Rone Horse al so sixty pounds cash.

Item I give to my son Markham Marshall one negro man named Joe one feath er bed and furniture and one half my stock of cattle sheep hogs to him a nd his forever.

Item I give to my daughter Margaret Snellins the remainder of my sto ck of hogs cattle with ye remainder of my household furniture.

I give to my Granddaughter Elizabeth Snelling one negro boy named George f orever.

My will is that my son William Marshall shall have all my provisions wi th my tools of every kind and ye money my corn sells for with all ye deb ts due to me after paying my daughter Mary McClannahan sixty pounds wi th my debts and funeral expenses.

Lastly I appoint my sons William Marshall and Markham Marshall my execut or of this my last will and testement in token hereof I have set my hand a nd seal this 17th April, 1799.

At a court held for Culpepper county this 17th day of May 1799 this last w ill and testement of Elizabeth Marshall deceased was exhibited to the cou rt and was proved by oaths of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be reco rded and on the motion of William Marshall one of the executors therein na med a certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due fo rm he having made oath thereto and given bond and security according to l aw liberty being preserved for the other executor to join in the probate w hen he shall think fit.
