William Wilberforce Bird

William Wilberforce Bird was the acting Governor-general (of the British E ast India Company) Jun 1844 - 23 Jul 1844; whilst Baron (Earl of) Ellenbor ough was otherwise engaged.

In 1896 William became the Comptroller of HM Customs.
William's eldest daughter, Caroline Frances, married Thomas Mathew Gisbor ne at St James Church, London on 15 Mar 1855.
William died in 1857.

George Elwes Corrie (1793-1885) was Norrisian Professor of Divinity in t he University of Cambridge, 1838-55, vice-chancellor, 1850-51, and mast er of Jesus College, Cambridge, 1849-85. As well as writing Daniel Corrie 's biography, jointly with another brother, he wrote papers on English chu rch history and edited works of Anglican theology. See M. Holroyd, ed., Me morials of the Life of George Elwes Corrie (Cambridge: Cambridge Univ. Pre ss, 1890).
