In his grandfather's will of 1772 his father George was bequethed £100 a nd "The East Dwelling house in Bellerby late in the possession of Thomas T hompson with the Turfhouse [?] Shop and other appertainces therewith occup ied (the West end with the appertainces now being in the possession of ... ... Hello Nikki

I see that your family history researching has taken you into Bird/Wilberf orce territory. I also have some of this tree in my database and would lo ve to compare notes.

I can start by saying that John Bird (born abt 1718 at Barton on the Heat h, Warwickshire - died 18 Dec 1772) married Judith Wilberforce (chr. 17 O ct 1727 at St Mary's Lowgate, Hull, Yorkshire, England and died 22 Sep 18 06 and is buried in St Nicholas Churchyard, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, Engl and).

Judith was the 10th child of Alderman William Wilberforce of Beverley, Yor ks and Sarah Thornton. The 11th Child was Robert Wilberforce who married E lizabeth Bird (John’s sister) and the 3rd of their 4 children was Willi am Wilberforce the abolitionist.

John Bird and Judith Wilberforce had 5 children that I know of at presen t. The eldest, Hannah Bird married Robert Sumner, Vicar of Kenilworth, a nd this is the line I belong to. Another of Thomas Bird’s children Mary Bi rd (also John’s sister) married Abel Smith, the Banker, and can be follow ed down to the Queen Mother

Robert Bird (John’s brother) married Mary Merttins hence this rather unusu al middle name that comes up every now and then.

I know of 2 William Wilberforce Birds (father and son born in 1784 and 175 8) The William Wilberforce Bird of 1758 married Penelope Wheler but I don ’t have a marriage for the son. Could this be Hannah Brown? If so, could s he be a sister to Jane Brown (daughter of David Brown) who married Robe rt Merttins Bird in 1809?

I know of a Major Robert Wilberforce Bird, later of Barton on the Heath, w ho had a son Robert Wilberforce Merttins Bird (born 20 Mar 1845 in Benga l, India) but I can’t find Major RW Bird’s parents, could they be Willi am Wilberforce Bird and Hannah Brown? Major RW Bird married Elizabeth Mar ia ??.

I use the LDS program PAF 5.2 and can easily send you a *.ged file.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Best wishes

Ian
