"35 Yards Green Silk"
Code for a 7lb baby

Captain BC Frost of the Boing Flight, British Airways, received a cable " 35 Yards Green Silk" while at a foreign port. Decoded it meant that his wi fe had presented him with a 7lb baby girl and both mother and daughter we re well.

The code devised by Captain Forst and Captain AG Lamplugh appears to provi de for every eventuality. Here it is:

Group 1 - No days after 30th September
Group 2 - 6lb=miles, 7lb=yards, 8lb=feet, 9lb=inches, 10lb=centimeters
Group 3 - Boy=brown, Girl=Green, Twins=brown brown or brown green etc, Tri plets=yellow, Quadruplets=red, quintruplets=champagne
Group 4 - Joan well, baby well = silk, Joan poorly, baby well = calico, bo th poorly = ribbon, Joan well, baby poorly = linen
