George Mouat Keith ELLERTON

Married [2] - Catherine Sandgrouber in 1879 at Huddersfield, Yks. ("Cathar
ine Sangrouser" per FreeBMD, Qtr.4). Probably the sister of Charlotte Sand
grouber who married George's brother Frederick).
Children - Dora Grace Ellerton (b.1850), Mouat Keith Ellerton (b.1852) [po
ssibly also: Catharine Cecilia Hannah (b. and d.1844), and George Mon
at Keith (b.1845) - see below].

George was the rector of St.Michaels Church at Smethcote (9 miles SW of Sh
rewsbury) from 1870-1895. The Smethcote Registers record him as "George Mo
uat Keith Ellerton, M.A., Brasenose Coll.. Oxon.". He is shown in the 18
81 Census residing at "The Vicarage, Smethcott, Shropshire", with his wi
fe Catharine (51, b.Westminster) and two servants.
His 1898 Probate showed: "Rev. George Mouat Keith Ellerton of 4 Lexden Gar
dens, Shrewsbury. Clerk, died 30/9/1898. Probate on 14th November to Mou
at Keith Ellerton (architect) and Dora Grace Ellerton (spinster). Effec
ts £96."
The 1901 Census for Leamington Priors/Warwickshire, shows a "Catherine Ell
erton, 71, b. Loho [Soho?]/London, "Living on Own Means").
The following 1919 Probate could possibly relate to his wife, as the execu
tor was George's nephew: "Catherine Ellerton of 26 Beauchamp Avenue, Leami
ngton. Widow, died 28/12/1918. Probate on 5th March to Frederick George El
lerton, [nephew] bank manager. Effects £2,213."

Dora Grace - b.1850 at Wincanton, Somerset - per FRC Index (Qtr.3). Unmarr
ied according to her father's Probate. The 1901 Census for Leamington Prio
rs/Warwickshire, shows Dora ("born Binton[?]/Somerset, Living on Own Mean
s) living in the same household as her uncle John Ellerton and his family.
