Mrs Fraser writes of him "My Grandfather Jackson was from Grantham (I thin k). At the age of 13 or 14 he ran away to sea, I think he was born at a nd left Grantham and became a brave and successful sea captain, made a go od deal of money for those times and returned to England and bought Resto n. He had the good sense to marry a lady and various good marriages help ed to raise the family. My Grandfather married Mary Howard, the daught er of a solicitor in Calcutta. I believe her mothers name was Mitford. S he was married twice, first to her cousin a Mr Eyres from Somerset with wh om she went to India sometime in 1700. Mr Eyres died in India and then s he married Mr Howard also a solicitor. Then as you know my Grandfather h ad a large family of nine children. Reston was but a small property and af ter his death and my grandmothers death it was sold and bought for a compa ratively small sum by one of his own sons, your husband's father, my Unc le Howard (Jackson). At his death it was then disposed of ... One of my Gr andfathers sons, my Uncle William, also went to India and became a solicit or and married a Miss Ewing (I believe) and had two children, the daught er married in Ireland, the son enlisted in the army and returned to Englan d. When about 30 he died at home, I never heard that he left money."
